  • John P. Murphy
    President, CEO and Board Member

Mr. John Murphy joined NDS Surgical Imaging in January 2008 where he serves as the Company’s President and CEO. Mr. Murphy has an extensive background in executive management, including President and CEO at Celerity, Inc. (a TPG portfolio company), Corporate EVP and COO at PerkinElmer, Inc., a role focusing on the Life and Analytical Sciences strategic business unit, as well as several years as President of the Optoelectronics division, and Vice President and General Management roles at Honeywell International and AlliedSignal, Inc. (now a part of Honeywell). Mr. Murphy holds a BSc. (Hons) in Computing Science from the University of Greenwich in London, an MS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and an MBA in International Finance from Arizona State University.

  • Katia Bejan
    Senior Director of Human Resources

Ms. Katia Bejan joined NDS Surgical Imaging in 2007 and is responsible for all human resources activities within the Company. She has over sixteen years of experience as a human resources professional among the medical device, manufacturing, and market research industries. Prior to NDSsi, Ms. Bejan has held human resource management positions at Arthrocare Corporation, Ball Screws & Actuators Inc. (a division of Danaher Corporation), and Dataquest (now a part of Gartner). Ms. Bejan holds a BS degree in business administration with a concentration in human resources management from California State University at Stanislaus.

  • Rajesh Bhakta
    Senior Director of Information Technology

Mr. Rajesh Bhakta joined NDS Surgical Imaging in 2008 and leads the Information Technology initiatives for the Company. He has over nineteen years of experience as an IT professional and has held management and leadership roles for ten years. Prior to NDSsi, Mr. Bhakta was the Director of Information Technology at UPEK, Inc., a spinoff from STMicroelectronics. He has also held management positions at AlphaSmart, BuildPoint Corporation and Preview Systems, Inc. Mr. Bhakta holds a Bachelors degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering and a MS in Management Information Systems from Southern Illinois University.

  • Sam C. Brown
    Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Sam C. Brown joined NDS Surgical Imaging as Chief Financial Officer in 2009 where he leads the Company in the areas of Finance, Accounting, Legal, Human Resources, and IT. With over twenty years of industry experience, Mr. Brown most recently served as the Vice President of Finance at NVIDIA Corporation where he was responsible for all worldwide finance and accounting functions. Prior to that, he has held leading roles within finance at Silicon Graphics, Sun Microsystems, 3 Com, and Hewlett-Packard. Mr. Brown holds a BS in Economics from University of California, Santa Cruz, and an MBA from Santa Clara University.

  • Trina Ciraulo
    Vice President, Operations and Customer Service

Ms. Trina Ciraulo has been with NDS Surgical Imaging since 1996. She is currently Vice President of Operations and Customer Service at the Company and is one of its original founders. Ms. Ciraulo brings over eighteen years industry experience. Prior to NDSsi, she held senior management positions with Dolch Computer Systems and Micronics in marketing, sales, and operations roles for several divisions, including a high-volume computer motherboard division, and an LCD display division.

  • Ron Hansen
    Chief Technology Officer

Mr. Ron Hansen joined NDS Surgical Imaging in 2002. With more than thirty-one years of senior level industry experience with such leading companies as Applied Materials, GTE Sylvania and Candescent Technologies, Mr. Hansen has significant experience leading multi-disciplinary technical teams in a product management and development capacity. He is the holder of 20 US patents, and has 7 US patent applications pending. Mr. Hansen earned his BS in Electrical Engineering from Washington State University and his MSEE from Santa Clara University, where he also completed advanced coursework in Technical Management.

  • Hee Kyung “HK” Kim
    Vice President of Engineering, Dome

Mr. Hee Kyung Kim came to NDS Surgical Imaging through the Planar Systems, Inc. Medical Business Unit acquisition, where he managed the Dome product line. Mr. Kim has over twenty-six years of experience in management roles within operations, manufacturing and engineering. In his most recent role at Planar, Mr. Kim was responsible for all phases of product development, electronics, design, project management, and quality of the Dome product line. He has also held management positions at E-Systems Medical Electronics, Aseco Corporation, and AMP Keyboard Technologies, Inc. Mr. Kim earned a BS in Operations Management and Mechanical Engineering from Boston University.

  • Brent Michael
    Vice President of Sales, Americas

Mr. Brent Michael came to NDS Surgical Imaging through the acquisition of the Planar Systems, Inc. Medical Business Unit. Mr. Michael has over eighteen years of experience in the Healthcare IT industry and brings a strong knowledge and understanding of the diagnostic imaging market. Prior to Planar, Mr. Michael held various leadership positions at GE Healthcare, working in their PACs and IT division.  Prior to GE, Mr. Michael also worked in various sales and sales management capacities at Vitalworks, Inc. and Medfax Corporation. Mr. Michael received a BS in Business Administration from Appalachian State University.

  • Steven J. Olechny
    Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary

Mr. Steven Olechny joined NDS Surgical Imaging as Vice President, General Counsel in 2010 with responsibility for all aspects of the Company’s legal requirements, including corporate governance, FDA compliance, intellectual property, mergers and acquisitions, trademarks, patents and litigation. With over twenty years of experience, Mr. Olechny most recently served as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary at Barriersafe Solutions International, Inc. Prior to that, he served as Deputy General Counsel at The Timberland Company, and Assistant General Counsel at United Technologies Corporation. He began his career in private practice at a major U.S. law firm. Mr. Olechny holds a BA in Economics from Vassar College, and J.D. from Cornell Law School.

  • Kees Poot
    Vice President and General Manager Europe, Middle East and Africa

Mr. Kees Poot joined NDS Surgical Imaging in 1997 and helped grow the Company with successful opening and running of the Company’s European office in The Netherlands that same year. Prior to starting up NDSsi’s European operations, Mr. Poot held various International management positions with Westinghouse Building Management Systems as Division Manager and at Honeywell Europe. Mr. Poot studied Electronics at the Royal Dutch Navy and Business Management at the London Business School.

  • Chris Roller
    Vice President, Engineering, Network Visualization

Mr. Chris Roller came to NDS Surgical Imaging through the Rivulet Communications acquisition. His reputation for building and leading world-class engineering teams that solve difficult engineering problems on demanding schedules is built on more than 20 years of experience. Prior to joining Rivulet, Chris was senior vice president at Hillcrest Labs where he led the development of next-generation Freespace pointing systems for commercial TV and PC applications. Prior to that, Mr. Roller held executive and management titles at Tellabs, Ocular Networks, Coherent, and E-Systems. Mr. Roller holds U.S. patents in the areas of cellular radio geolocation and signal processing for tremor reduction. He holds a Doctor of Science in communications. He has a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from George Washington University, and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

  • Jens Ruppert
    Vice President and General Manager, Surgical Business Unit

Mr. Jens Ruppert joined NDS Surgical Imaging in 2006 and oversees all surgical engineering, marketing and product management for displays, informatics and wireless products. He has over fifteen years of professional experience in product management, sales, engineering, and research and development. Prior to his current position, Mr. Ruppert held a product management leadership role and before that, a key sales position in Europe, Middle East and Africa at NDSsi. He has extensive medical device experience and previously held roles at Kuhnke GmbH, KLS Martin Group and Maquet/Getinge. Mr. Ruppert received a degree from Heinrich-Emanuel-Merck-Schule in Germany for electronics.

 

  • Dr. Peter M. Steven
    Vice President and General Manager, Radiology Business Unit

Dr. Peter Steven is NDS Surgical Imaging’s Vice President and General Manager of the Radiology Business Unit where he oversees product management, engineering and marketing of the Dome product line. During his prior tenure as co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of DOME, Dr. Steven helped design and develop the first medical imaging LCD display as well as novel display controllers for medical imaging. He also conceived and implemented the first auto-calibrating medical flat panel display, which remains the industry’s gold standard. Dr. Steven received a BS in Mathematics, an MS in Political Science and a Ph.D. in Political Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

 

  • Steve Tomei
    Corporate Controller

Mr. Steve Tomei has over twenty-one years of financial management experience and has been with NDS Surgical Imaging since 2007 as the Company’s Corporate Controller. Mr. Tomei’s prior experience includes Controller of ANTs Software, Corporate Controller for Transmeta Corporation, and Vice President, Corporate Controller at Riverdeep, Inc. He has experience as the Controller in public offerings such as Portal Software and BAAN. Steve is a Certified Public Accountant and holds an MBA in Finance from Illinois Benedictine University and a BA in accounting from Loyola University of Chicago.

  • Jeff Zhou
    Chief Operating Officer

Dr. Jeff Zhou joined NDS Surgical Imaging in 2008 and serves as Chief Operating Officer, responsible for the day-to-day operations of marketing, sales, operations, surgical and radiology business units, and NDSsi’s other regional offices, EMEA and APAC. His most recent role was as NDSsi’s Vice President of Global Engineering and General Manager of the Company’s APAC region. He brings over twenty-one years of experience and a track record of driving rapid new product development across global markets. Prior to NDSsi, Dr. Zhou served as Vice President of Global Engineering Products at Solectron. Previous to that, he served over 15 years in Honeywell’s avionics and Industrial Control Solutions businesses in various management roles. Dr. Zhou completed his undergraduate degree in Shanghai, China and earned a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida. He has over 20 publications in his research field and has been awarded two US Patents. Dr. Zhou also serves as Board Member for Monolithic Power Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: MPWR).

    Chairman

Mr. David Belluck is General Partner at Riverside Partners LLC and has 17 years of experience working with and investing in lower middle market companies. He has been a General Partner with Riverside Partners since 1992. Prior to Riverside, he worked at Monitor Group, a business strategy consulting firm. He is also a member of the board of directors of the Kingsley Montessori School and serves as Chair of the school's Capital Campaign. Mr. Belluck holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, magna cum laude, from Harvard College, and a Master of Business Administration, with distinction, from Harvard Business School.

  • Daniel H. Berry
    Board Member

Mr. Berry has been an Operating Partner at Riverside Partners, a private equity firm, since 2002.  Prior to that, Mr. Berry was President and Chief Operating Officer at Ultratech Stepper, Inc. (NASDAQ:UTEK), Director of International Operations at General Signal Corporation and Director of Marketing with Perkin Elmer Corporation, all providers of Semiconductor Manufacturing equipment.  Mr. Berry began his career at Bell Laboratories. He serves on the Board of Directors of Rudolph Technologies (NASDAQ:RTEC), NDS Surgical Imaging and GEMCITY, a contract Manufacturing firm, as well as on the Board of Trustees of Polytechnic University, Brooklyn, NY.  Mr. Berry holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn.

  • Michael M. Clair
    Independent Board Member

Mr. Michael Clair has spent more than 25 years in successful operating roles with multiple Silicon Valley companies focused on wired and wireless voice and data networking technologies, network and Internet security, as well as network management software solutions. He was a co-founder and Senior VP of Marketing and Sales of SynOptics Communications which became Bay Networks, and held executive positions at Tymshare, and ROLM Corporation. He was Chairman of Intellisync for 9 years before it was sold to Nokia in 2004. For the past 16 years, Mr. Clair has been a technology investor, consultant and independent Board Member to Silicon Valley firms. Currently he is on the Board of Phoenix Technologies (NASDAQ:PTEC), and 3PAR (NASDAQ:PAR). He also serves on the Boards of private companies - Corefino and VT&T. Mr. Clair has an BS and an MBA from SUNY at Buffalo. Mr. Clair donates his time and serves on the California Board of the V Foundation for Cancer Research.

  • Karen Clark
    Board Member

Ms. Clark is Vice President at Riverside Partners, a private equity firm, and has more than 25 years of experience in finance. Most recently, she was the VP-Finance for the $1B Biosciences Group of Fisher Scientific. Previously, she was the CFO for two public companies: Capstone Turbine Corporation and PacifiCorp. Ms. Clark has also held financial leadership roles at Tektronix, Precision Castparts Corp., The Coleman Company, and Sunbeam Corporation. Additionally, she served as a CPA and a CMA in the consulting and auditing practices of Ernst & Young and Arthur Andersen. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and has a B.S. in Accounting from Montana State University.

  • Steve Kaufman
    Board Member

Mr. Steve Kaufman is an Operating Partner for Riverside Partners, a private equity firm. Previously, Mr. Kaufman was President and CEO, and earlier COO, of Avici Systems Inc. (now Soapstone Networks (NASDAQ:SOAP)), a telecommunications equipment company. Earlier, he worked at Lucent Technologies (now Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE:ALU)), in various general management roles, most recently serving as President of the Multiservice Core Networks division, a $2 billion business. Additionally Mr. Kaufman worked for Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) in various marketing management roles on the Pentium processor product family. He serves on the boards of Quantum Medical Imaging, Maxvision, SIXNET, and One Laptop Per Child. Mr. Kaufman holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, magna cum laude, from Brown University, a Master of Business Administration degree, with distinction, from Harvard Business School, and a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Stanford University.

  • Francis Lunger
    Independent Board Member

Mr. Francis Lunger was Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Millipore Corporation from 2002 to 2004 and served on the company’s Board of Directors from 2001 until March of 2008. Mr. Lunger joined Millipore in 1997 as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and held several executive management positions, which, in addition to the above, included serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating officer from 2000 until 2001.  Prior to joining Millipore, Mr. Lunger held executive management positions at Oak Industries, Inc., Nashua Corporation, and Raychem Corporation.  He received a BS in Accounting from Gannon University. Mr. Lunger also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Landmark School in Pride’s Crossing, MA.

Mr. John Murphy joined NDS Surgical Imaging in January 2008 where he serves as the Company’s President and CEO.   • Carmen Piucci
    Chairman Emeritus

Mr. Carmen Piucci previously served as NDSsi’s President, CEO and Director since 1996, and is one of the original founders. Prior to NDSsi, he served as Vice President and General Manager of the display products business unit for Dolch Computer Systems. He also held positions with IBM in R&D in its Thomas J. Watson Research Center, Finlux Displays and Stanford’s Linear Accelerator. Mr. Piucci studied electrical engineering at Hofstra University. 

  • Deborah Widener
    Independent Board Member

Ms. Deborah Widener has over twenty years experience as a senior executive in the financial services sector. She was a managing director at Adams Harkness where she ran their biotechnology banking and at Robertson, Stephens where she ran their retail consumer banking.  As a banker, her background includes financings in the private and public debt and equity markets, sophisticated tax-driven transactions, multinational joint ventures and mergers and acquisitions. Ms. Widener also has extensive investing experience; in the venture community as a founding partner of Oasis Capital and with leverage buyouts as President of General Electric Capital’s Capital Market Group and as a managing director of Kidder Peabody’s merchant bank.    She received a BA from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
