Accounting Manager

JOB SUMMARY:                                         
Responsible for supervising daily accounting functions including payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, general ledger, cash management, cost accounting, and monthly closing process.  Assist Controller in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department including general ledger, cash management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, credit & collections, fixed assets, property & sales taxes, and revenue recognition.
  • Responsible for coordinating and organizing month-end closing.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements, commentaries, and financial footnotes.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of staff engaged in calculating and posting financial data accurately and according to US GAAP for both routine and non-routine reporting transactions.
  • Establish, maintain, and coordinate the implementation of accounting processes and procedures to strengthen internal controls.
  • Monitor and analyze the activities of staff to develop more efficient procedures, use of resources, and adherence to deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Issue written and oral instructions to assign duties to subordinates and examine work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to company policies and procedures.
  • Develop staff and implement new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
  • Review monthly, quarterly and annual tax reports and ensure compliance with all filing requirements.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual corporate income tax workpapers
  • Prepare and/or direct the preparation of special statistical reports, surveys or analyses of a complex and difficult nature.
  • Interface with outside auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audit.
  • Interact with international accountants to ensure subsidiaries comply with timely reporting.
  • Recruit and manage training of personnel and provide timely and accurate performance and salary reviews.
  • Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
  • Motivate and improve the skills of department personnel.
  • Comply with the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Additional responsibilities such as preparing and submitting reports to management as requested.
  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • BS or BA degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
  • 7+ years of accounting experience in a Public Company manufacturing environment.
  • Must have prior experience in managerial role with general accounting and financial reporting.
  • Proficient in US GAAP.

  1. Excellent time management, communication, decision-making, influencing, presentation, human relations, and organizational skills.
  2. Demonstrate ability to work in a fast-paced and growing environment.
  3. Ability to analyze financial data.
  4. Proficient in PC applications such as MS Word and MS Excel; and PC based accounting software such as Great Plains, SAP, Oracle manufacturing software, Microsoft FRX Report Writer, or Hyperion.
